Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering in Basel

The basic structure of the new building in Basel not only generates a balanced form in terms of urban development, but also an organisational optimisation through the bundling of functions. The aim of the design for the new laboratory and research building was to create a building structure that would permanently withstand the functional requirements for flexibility, meet the highest technical standards and give the building a balanced yet characteristic appearance.

MTU Aero Engines Test Center

The G200 high-tech test center is where parts, components and complete engines – development tests, certification tests and series acceptance tests – are carried out. The technical highlight and heart of the new test center is a multifunctional rotary test stand. It was newly erected in its own enclosure – a double-shell decoupled reinforced concrete structure – and rests on a separately mounted, sound-decoupled 90-tonne machine foundation. The smooth operation of all facilities is ensured by an elaborate supply technology for water, electricity, argon, cooling and hot air as well as a safe heat dissipation of the test stand.

Ice Arena Kaufbeuren

The Erdgas Schwaben Arena is a multi-purpose hall in Kaufbeuren in the administrative district of Schwaben. It has been open since October 2017 and offers space for up to 3500 visitors. The ice hockey club ESV Kaufbeuren plays its home games in the hall.

e-mob-lab

E-mobility laboratory at the University of Applied Sciences Ravensburg-Weingarten. The laboratory offers the possibility to test electric vehicles for the mass market and to optimize their efficiency and components. To this end, interdisciplinary courses of study are also to be networked, for example in the field of communication inside and outside the vehicle.

Exhibition – Time Space Existence

Recently I received an invitation from the Global Art Affairs Foundation to exhibit at this year’s Architecture Biennale in Venice. Host is the European Cultural Center, which dedicates over 3000 m² to architectural photography in Palazzo Bembo near the famous Rialto Bridge. From 26 May to 25 November 2018 my works will be shown in room C14 on the first floor of Palazzo Bembo, near the famous Rialto Bridge. With its high ceilings and wide walls, as well as the view into the courtyard of the palazzo, the room is well suited for my large-format photographs. My pictures are testimonies of life on and with built space. In this directness, they seem like a commitment to the existence of an everyday aesthetic that surrounds us all, which I want to share with the viewer in my photographs. In the current works two main topics can be found again and again: The appropriation and use of space by us and the depiction of a time window in which an everyday moment becomes a staging. Against this background, my photographs will enter into a dialogue with this exhibition that will be unique in this form.

Wilhelmspalais Stuttgart – Conversion to a City Museum

The state capital Stuttgart is converting the listed Wilhelmspalais into a city museum. The concept of the architects Lederer, Ragnarsdóttir, Oei and the exhibition designer Jangled Nerves, Stuttgart, deals with the basic principles of the original building of the Italian master builder Salucci, which was destroyed down to the outer walls in World War II. Without falling into reconstruction, the architects develop a consciously modern museum on the basis of the original spatial structure.

Organ Concerts in the Sacral Room

Each organ is unique because it is built exclusively for the architectural space in which it is to sound. What does this instrument look like up there, whose sound fills an entire church room and so wonderfully enhances church ceremonies?

Following the (sound)-track of the organ builders, I am in different “organ landscapes”. and have asked the actual organists of the instruments to send me their organ on the to introduce your way.

The result is photographs that combine the arts of architecture and music with the genre of Portait in the medium of photography and the gaze of people as indeed portrayed to portraits of an instrument.
